This part of my site is going to be dedicated to the country of Bolivia. I have traveled to
this beautiful country four times in the last five years. My reason for the first trip and all the other
trips has been to participate in a great adventure simply called The Caravan.' Traveling on
ATV's we explore some of the most remote parts of the country. With support provided by the
Caravan, we don't have to worry about gas, food, or places to stay. If there is any mechanical
problems or medical emergency it can be handled by the support crews.
This once a year adventure is promoted by someone who has turned into a good friend,
Juan Carlos Salvatierra. Starting out ten years ago with just a few riders and one support truck,
Juan Carlos has turned an idea into a national phenomenon. Scheduled to coincide with Bolivia's
Independence Day, the country is already in full celebration mode when the Caravan travels to
their area. Every year Juan Carlos and his staff plan a new route, so every Caravan, each year is
different. The Caravan travels mostly in an area of the country called the Beni' which includes
the Amazon Basin area.

This year, 2006, I will be bringing my wife, MaryBeth with me. We are looking for other
adventurous people to accompany us.
